Autumn Mini Photo Session FAQ
FAQ
How do I book my session?
It's easy! Click the "ADD TO CART" button at the top of THIS PAGE and proceed to the check out. You'll need a credit card for payment. After buying your session, please keep an eye on your inbox for an email from me with next steps (booking your time, scheduling your consultation call, downloads of your shoot planners and tip sheets).
How far in advance should I book?
As soon as possible to get your preferred time slot. These sessions come around only once a quarter and are a great value. They go quickly!
Where is your studio located?
We're located in Leaside- near Eglinton E and Laird, East York. The address is 28 Industrial St, unit 215 Toronto M4G 1Y9
Please note, our studio is, unfortunately, not accessible. We're on the second floor of the building and you will need to climb the stairs to get to us.
I notice that make-up isn't included in these sessions. Can I book my own make-up artist?
YES! You sure can. I've worked with many make up artists and can recommend some to you. Most make-up artists will come to you for your application. I have a make-up station at the studio you and your artist can use. Please let me know if you'd like to do this so I can schedule appropriately. (Make-up usually takes 45-60 min so I'd need to ensure the station is available before your photo session starts.)
How many outfits can I bring?
The short answer is, as many as you want. Keep in mind that we have only 20 minutes for your photos and any time used in changing outfits is a part of that 20 minutes. If you're looking to create multiple looks, I suggest wearing a neutral base and changing things up with accessories, blazers, and scarves.
Can I split my session with another person?
Sorry, no. These sessions are short (20 minutes goes by really fast!) and reserved for single people, or up to 2 extra people who are part of a team/ the same business. I've priced these sessions to offer incredible value yet still be as affordable as possible. Please let me know if you want to book, but require a modified payment schedule. Email me at trina.turl@gmail.com
The Mini Sessions are full- How do I get onto the list for the next sessions?Sorry to have missed you this round! Shoot me an email at trina.turl@gmail.com and I'll add you to the waitlist for the next round of mini sessions. Don't want to wait that long? Consider booking one of my private customized photo sessions which we can arrange too suit your schedule HERE
I can't make it to my mini session after all. Do you offer refunds?
Due to the nature of Mini Sessions, your session fee is nonrefundable. If you are not healthy on the day of your shoot, the deposit amount will be applied to a future booking with Trina Turl Photography.
The time you book is set aside just for YOU and time may have been invested in your consultation call or going over your shoot documents- it is extremely important that you set your mini session time aside in your calendar.
What can I do to ensure my session goes well?
Most importantly- you gotta try to RELAX. I know you don't like getting your picture taken. Practically no one does. I promise, it's going to be ok (maybe even fun) and you'll look AMAZING. Get a good sleep the night before. Plan and pull your outfits and props ahead of time and have them ready to go the night before. Allow lots of time to get to the studio and plan to arrive 5-10 minutes early. I've got more tips for you in your included planning resources.
Do you have any props at your studio I can use?
YES! I have a selection of mugs, notebooks, stationary, and even a prop iphone and Samsung tablet. We can discuss what I have and what you need on your consultation call.
How long will it take to get my photos?
About 7-10 days after our session, I'll upload your files onto your very own password protected web gallery where you can choose which one you'd like retouched. After you have made that choice, it will be about a week before I send you your retouched file(s) and the edited web-resolution files (Early Birds, this is when you'll get your high-resolution files too).
If you haven't chosen your retouched file 2 weeks after you receive your gallery link, I'll send just the edited files.
All files are delivered via digital download
Can you help me choose my image for retouching?
YES! I'm happy to provide you with a short selection of my favourite images from your session if you need your options narrowed down.
What retouching is done on the retouched image?
I'm a firm believer that we're all amazing, beautiful humans beings naturally. I also think it's important that you actually look like yourself in your photos. That said, I get that we all have things we're a bit self conscious about. General retouching on your images includes removal of blemishes, bruises and scratches, under eye shadows are removed or reduced to my discretion (to look natural), removal of any distracting wayward flyaway hairs, removal of any distracting lint on clothing, lighting of wrinkles (by request).
Advanced retouching is available for $55/image and includes: swapping eyes from another image, swapping heads, body and face shaping, grey hair removal, cleaning up alot of frizzy hair, and removing wrinkles from clothing.
Where can I use my images?
You can use your images to promote and market your business. Most people use their images on:
- social media (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc)
- their own websites
- marketing collatoral (brochures, post cards, business cards)
- sales pages
- online stores
A nice bonus I do for my clients: If you give me a photocredit @trinaphoto on Instagram I'll share your post to my stories. It's a nice boost for your algorithim and my engaged audience of 1500 souls will have a chance to learn about you!
What's a commercial use license?
This can be a big topic- but basically when you're working with a professional photographer, you should have a license to use your images. But why?
- Canadian law assigns the copyright of the images to your photographer
-a license is an agreement between you and your photographer for where (see above) and how long you can use the images they created.
The commercial license included in your mini session fee is a very generous one. You can use your images as stated above for 5 years.
Why 5 years? This is a typical life span for your images. You really should get new ones after 5 years because, like normal human beings, we change in that time. If the point of getting great photos of yourself is to build trust with your clients- you need to look like your photos in real life. Fashions change too. Up-to-date images work hugely in your favour.
Where can't I use my images?
Your license does not include the following:
- You may not sell the images to be sold on stock photography websites
- You may not uses the images on mugs, t shirts etc to be sold (If you're making free tshirts with your face - that ok. Actually I would like one to wear!)
- You may not sell the images to other businesses too use for their marketing (to clarify- another business can use the images if they are promoting and selling your business, service, product- ie you're on their podcast, they are selling something of yours)
You probably weren't going to do any of those things anyway. Love your images and really want to use them for more than 5 years? Let me know and we can work something out.
